Established in 1875 in the village of Woodslee, St. John the Evangelist was blessed on April 15, 1875 by Bishop Walsh who appointed Fr. Patrick Fitzpatrick to serve the local Irish Catholic families. The parish was known for the many vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Orders. Priests were active in establishing a local community theatre, baseball leagues, debates, among other interests.
